![]() While I don't think the TurboGrafx is as rare as it's made out to be, it, and its library, tend to be at least double the cost of PC-Engine, while there are no North American exclusives as far as I know, because NEC pulled almost all support for the console and trickled ports of Japanese games into the market. For whatever reason, market values seem to correlate to sales figures, even though the available units will always exceed the sales figures during the lifetime if the platform- warehouses full of unsold products find their way to market years after the platform goes obsolete, but especially in the U.S., buyers do not exercise their power in the market, so sellers determine prices. It's a complicated subject, but functionally exactly as you describe. legendary axe 1 and 2 (both are incredible games, but polar opposites of each other).momotaro katsugeki (almost feels like a sequel to keith courage but improved in every way).outrun (good port, best pce driving game, 2nd would be final lap twin).samurai ghost (incredible graphics, good fun).the part 1 hucard should be cheap and tbh first 3 levels are the most creative anyway) r-type part 1 (i'm a wuss so i never could beat the whole thing.street fighter ii (still a cool version even if it's just CE).rastan saga 2 (technically bad but i have a lot of fun with it).W-ring (cool mix of gradius and thunder force).spiritual sequel to black tiger with oriental style megaman soundtrack) sonson 2 (capcom exclusive, hard but rewarding.if nothing else, it's easier than the nes version) wonderboy 3 dragontrap (literally an improved port of the best master system game).bonk 2 (1 is great as well, but bonk 2 is my favorite in the series.new adventure island (best in the series IMO, godtier pure platforming).air zonk + coryoon (air zonk is essentially a sequel to coryoon).I'll name some of my favorite hucard games, regardless of price they improved most of the graphics and added a final boss so you can actually beat the dang thing. Gonna go against the grain hard here but devil's crush is better on genesis. I don't know, I need to try these (Good chance decent): Outrun (only cause better versions out there)Ībomination of game design (Dumpster Tier): Not bad by any means, but better played after you have invested serious time in the library. Yokai Dochuki (have a soft soft spot for this one, might be higher) and Jeff (Play JP version, Kato Chan and Ken Chan) Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu (Bordering SSS Tier) This what I post when people ask what to play:ĭai Makaimura (AKA Ghouls n' Ghosts)(Arguably better than the arcade version)īeyond Shadowgate (personally not a huge fan, but it gets praise)ĭungeon Master: Theron's Quest (PC version is better) Check out the sidebar to explore our network! It was sold only in Japan and it did not fare well against its rivals. ![]() PC-FX was a 5th generation console that was a follow-up to the PC Engine. Originally intended to "beat" the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), it ended up competing against the likes of the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. It was the first console released in the 16-bit era, albeit still utilizing a 8-bit CPU. The TurboGrafx-16 video game console was joint-developed by Hudson Soft and NEC, released in Japan on October 30, 1987, and in the United States on August 19, 1989. This subreddit is for discussion of NEC's 16-bit TurboGrafx-16 console, also known as PC Engine, as well as all other NEC consoles.
